The value of this latest handicraft manual lies primarily in the selection of materials all of which, except plaster of paris which is often unpredictable, are clean and mostly of the color, out and paste variety. The articles made are decorative rather than functional, but the variety of projects and the simple materials make this book an ideal rainy day companion. The directions are simply stated- sometimes a little too casually to be sure but the average child of 6 or 7 up should with some help manage most of the projects outlined. The detailed drawings are helpful and this handbook on such items as plane cards, masks, dolls, and holiday decorations should make a hit with clubs and schools. Appeal mostly to girls, although boys will like the ""indoor"" gardens and box toys.
