THE DONKEY SAT DOWN

A comforting little story, with enough excitement in it for beginning readers, tells what happened to Mellass and her donkey one day at a country school about 50 years age. Mellass rides Taffy to school where he is teased and ridiculed while she does her best to stand up for him. Then in the midst of a fight with Albie, one of the boys, Taffy, intervenes to ward off a snake in time for Albie to come to his senses and kill it. Taffy in rewarded with flowers and orange peal, which he happens to like.
