KIRKUS REVIEW

In a traditional Iroquois ceremony, Little Runner looks on with envy as the older boys threaten to steal valuable possessions and are diverted by huge portions of delicious maple sugar. Inventing his own route to this special treat, Little Runner takes Little Brother and asks mother to redeem him in a variety of ways. With understanding and humor, mother plays along and then surprises her inventive little son with his favorite dish.
