WIND ON THE PAMPAS

An authentic picture of life on the pampas in the Argentine, of the hard-won fight of the rancher to save his cattle -- and his crops -- against weather, grasshoppers. Argentine aristocracy and peasants in a well-tailored story, which predicsics an interest in other ways of life and foreign backgrounds. A lonely farmer, industrious, self-sufficient, hires a peasant girl as servant and housekeeper. As their intimacy increases and the years go on, she assumes certain familiarity that he finds he reachts, when shown in front of the children of his old patron. A difficult situation, which is finally resolved, but scarcely enough cumulative interest to bring focus to a story which emerges as a better background piece than novel.
