KIRKUS REVIEW

Seloe is born in the Pribilof Islands off Alaska and grows, during the course of this friendly and rather romantic nature narrative, into a fine young bull with his own herd of cows. It is a staunch, steadily moving story, reminiscent of Rutherford Montgomery's animal studies, with good descriptions of Seloe's surroundings, the dangers that beset him and his kind and the stages he goes through from infancy to maturity. At the last however, when Seloe, surrounded by the other cows, finds his true love Selene, the sentiment is labored.
