WHERE'S AGGIE?

Those three energetic old ladies, Aggie, Maggie and Tish, are back and the outcome is confusion for the reader. They fly off to get a recipe, leaving to the safekeeping of the Eliot children Maggie's watch that makes time run backwards, Aggie's garters that make people run swiftly, and Tish's pins that tell stories. Mr. and Mrs. Eliot are fully occupied already with five children bickering over Mom's attentions, plus Aggie's wolf named Wolf. After a few insipid domestic problems, some solved by dubious magic, Maggie and Tish fly in without Aggie, who got lost somewhere in New York. During the long winter Aggie communicates by absent-minded telepathy (?), at last returns--she was captured by a band of gypsies (!). Wisconsin is the scene of this genteel, wacky, meandering magicing, but it's up in the air all the way.
