MR. TURTLE'S MYSTERY

In a simple little story, several underlying values emerge from the skillful pen and drawing board of author and illustrator. David receives Mr. Turtle for his birthday and learns and devotedly practices all the rules on caring for him. Only once does he forget, and to his chagrin, Mr. Turtle disappears. Search as he may, David cannot solve the mystery of his whereabouts; and then suddenly Mr. Turtle reappears! But David's joy relieves the frustrations of his unsolved mystery, a mystery which the perceptive young reader will solve by careful scrutiny of Jacqueline Tomes' illustrations. Along with gaining information on the how and why of turtle care, youngsters will be thrilled as they become the real sleuths.
