TWO KITTENS ARE BORN: From Birth to Two Months

Email this review

A record of the development of two newborn kittens--one black, one white--day-by-day for the first month, week-by-week for the second; and that's it. The picture captions are flatly descriptive (""The white kitten has both eyes open""), and so style-less that they add nothing--by way of eliciting a feeling or piquing an interest--to what the pictures show. The pictures themselves are repetitive (save for the physical changes in the kittens), unimaginatively composed, and not particularly sharp (which may be the printing). By comparison with Carla Stevens' Birth of Sunset's Kittens, and some of its successors, it's a total washout--and the actual birth of the kittens is neither explained nor shown.
