KIRKUS REVIEW

A slight contribution to the Nichols bookshelf, but illustrative of his viewpoint, that a garden is a stage on which to express moods. He sees flowers with the eye of an artist, and he writes in poetic and appreciative terms of these favorites of his. There is no classification, just simply an alphabetical arrangement, with photographs by a variety of photographers. Some of the inclusions will surprise his fanciers -- hostas, nicotina, Chinese lanterns to mention a few. Highly specialized and limited interest.
