Where are these luxurious ladies with a surfeit of time to create these herbal scents and sundries and a gallery of friends to consume them? Pomanders, potpourris, sachets, incenses, bubble baths, soaks, softeners and powders: billed here as ""beautiful lovely-exciting-fun"" gifts one and all or as a treat for your own ""sensuous household."" Cloying after a while though, those heavy-hanging fumes of rose, geranium, lavender, thyme--every time you open a door or drawer. On the more practical side, Plummer includes a section of household cleaners based on ammonia, baking soda, borax and vinegar that are both economical and effective. As for those complicated instructions on soap-making, if store-bought was good enough for mother, it's good enough for us.
