GLAMOUR MAGAZINE'S NEW AFTER FIVE COOKBOOK

By

Pub Date: Sept. 27th, 1963
Publisher: Doubleday

The ""old"" edition appeared in 1952 and gave the harried girl with a job a provocative fillip designed to make quickly prepared meals tasty, original and gourmet slanted. The ""new"" edition is a complete revision, longer, keyed to available new foods products, frozen and instant foods, imports in available form, etc. but the formula is the same. There are the weekly shopping lists, the staples to be checked, the pickups on the way home; the arrangement follows the same pattern-monthly, with starred items in the menus indicating recipes to follow immediately. If, at times, one questions the 35 minutes of preparation -- or the attention to budget limitations- one at least grants the variety and individuality of the suggestions, the clarity of the directions, the accuracy of the quantity indications. A very useful adjunct to the cookbook shelf, but in no sense a complete how-to-do-it cookbook. Methods, equipment, etc. are pretty well assumed.
