ARF, BOO, CLICK: An Alphabet Book of Sounds

Bo-o-o-ring. For each letter, there are some nursery-book sounds--some of them unexceptionable (""hoot hoot hoot,"" ""hee-haw,"" and ""honk"" for H), some of them nonexistent nowadays except in nursery-books (the ""dong dong"" of a one-room schoolhouse bell, the ""ding ding"" of a fire engine), some of them inappropriate examples of the letters' sounds (""cheek,"" ""knock""). The little outline drawings, in bright reds, yellows, and greens, have about as much individuality or character, too, as stick-on seals. A banal idea executed with no particular forethought or imagination.
