RAIN FOREST

The title is misleading in this factual study of forest, conservation. Little or no attention is paid to the highly specific category of rain forests. Instead, the author concentrates on the history of forest, abuse - early logging and bucking practices, and how legislation was achieved through the efforts of Gifford Pinchot and Theodore Roosevelt to set aside vast forest reserves. The role of the government in recultivating land damaged by forest fire brings the discourse on conservation projects up to date. Decidedly geared for plus classroom use.
