HENRY McGEE IS NOT DEAD

Another November Man thriller from Granger, set this time in the Pacific Northwest, where the R-Section agent takes on the Alaskan elements--as well as Soviet nasties who have penetrated the defector protection program and a slippery traitor working both sides of the Bering Strait. Talk about a complicated ruse. In order to lure the perennially embittered agent Deveraux from the embrace of his sweet, intrigue-loathing girlfriend Rita, Henry McGee--the Soviets' vanishing man in Alaska--pays a hunter to impersonate him and become pals with a lonely trapper. Then he sends a young, sex-crazed Eskimo woman to blow the fake McGee away so that--when the grieving trapper buddy brings the frozen stiff into town--the name Henry McGee will enter the Federal intelligence computers, which will activate alarms that only the November Man can answer. Well, it works. Deveraux leaves Rita again and headswest to find out what the late trapper had to do with the real McGee. Meanwhile, Alexa and Denisov, the one-time Soviet agents who defected in the last November Man novel--and who have been living the good life in The Golden State under the defector protection program--are in a tizzy. Their secret identities are no longer secret, and Soviet goons are making their lives hell. They are forced to leave the sun and sand and join the machinations to snare Deveraux, who's extremely busy trying to sort everything out before Inuit nationalists nuke the Alaskan pipeline.
