""Bille"" Burke was prodded onto the stage by an enterprising mother, and trained by her father, an international clown. She found herself a London favorite in musical comedy at the age of 18; came to America under Frohman, and later married Florenz Ziegfeld. There were hurdles in that marriage, financial tangles, a full career in holding the marriage together despite marital troubles and family affairs. After his death she went back into pictures and radio.
