Another light-weight Western novel with the old familiar faces and shindigs. Fourteen-year-old Ted Farraday captures his golden palomino -- who is gentled in cracker-jack time -- and wins a race, which enables him to offer to part with the cherished horse to send a young crippled Mexican boy to the hospital. All ends happily with Ted keeping the horse and his friend taken care of. A healthy story which, however, lacks original touches. There is plenty of action in the author's illustrations, nevertheless.
