KIRKUS REVIEW

The author is an archaeologist and writes about the discoveries revealed in the opening of the King Mounds in Wickliffe, Kentucky, and draws conclusions and conjectures on the habits of these ancient Mound Builders. The origin of these people was undoubtedly Asiatic and in a period when the Bering Strait was bridged by fords, many must have crossed to North America. The Mound Builders themselves were probably American Indians of 1,000 years ago, sun and fire worshippers, delighting in ornamentation, brilliant craftsmen. Inclusion of verse and legends makes this a layman's book.
