THE BISMARCK EPISODE

With the facts gathered from official records of the short and turbulent career of the Bismarck, this is a detailed account of one of the few actual ship to ship engagements of World War II. The author follows the movement and decisions of the British naval units as word was received of the Bismarck's escape into the Atlantic, its tracing, the tragic end of the Hood, loss of contact and contact by air again, and finally the end of the pride of the German Navy by guns of the British fleet. The tremendous activity caused by one ship and the importance of sea power are indicated throughout-but the treatment is a factual one-restricting its market to students of maritime history and strategy.
