KIRKUS REVIEW

Essentially a man's book, dealing with the romance and melodrama of engineering. Specifically, this deals with under-river tunneling. The conflict between the financial aspects and the pleadings of a woman and the urge to act as agent for the sandhog's union, to get them better wages and working conditions. A goodish yarn of the politics in a profession, and the solidarity -- and weakness -- of the men concerned.
