Leveled from 13 year old Les McCoin' s eyes, this contrasts Nashville's old families and customs with those who still live far from the city's complexities. Les competes with Fogg 15; he worships pretty Kitty though she isn't making the grade socially; he objects to attending a reunion of his father's family about to move away from home, etc. Not another Catcher in the Rye, but the teen age world is still sharp as the story takes a blither turn.
