Again an improbable plot deftly caparisoned, but- for many readers- hampered by the best lingo intended to establish the setting with authentic detail. Nick Lawrence had tired of a weakly paycheck and substituted for it the running of a club where the beats hung out. What he hadn't counted on was a double murder on the doorstep- the strange appearance of some presumably ancient and valuable coins in the collection basket- and a glamor miss who made him think perhaps the paycheck might be worthwhile again. Plenty of action, violence, false clues to a surprise ending.
