KIRKUS REVIEW

An all-purpose, all-weather outdoors reference, giving advice on everything from thawing a frozen ear to preparing delicacies like moose nose: scald, simmer, cool, and pluck. The prolific Angler has already written--and widely sold--whole books on many of these subjects, and his digest condensations will be most appreciated by those with a little backwoods experience. Books of this sort usually cover making a fire or reading a compass; Angler goes on to prospecting for gold and handling your own pack train, stating his preferences outright. It's affable and authoritative, a balanced pack for other wilderness enthusiasts.
