KIRKUS REVIEW

An unusual story of a girl of the Yoshiwara in modern Tokyo, and a remarkable picture of Japanese life. Very convincingly does the author convey a sense of the conflict between old and new, down to the ultimate triumph of the old in an attempt to refute it. A love story of a Japanese boy and girl -- implicit with the spirit of a race.
