THE SHAPE OF FURTHER THINGS

By

Pub Date: March 1st, 1971

Mr. Aldiss, the literary editor of the Oxford Mail (now taking a month off) and science-fiction proponent-practitioner writes almost daily pieces that are personal (Brie doesn't ripen as well any-more) or speculative (""I love theorizing"") and relaxed. Several of them deal with dreams and dream-study and sleep where ""the cinema-in-the-round"" goes on and on; there's one on Wells' postulate about education and the better world it might achieve -- only perhaps; but the most interesting deal predictably with science-fiction, that ""rare alloy"" and its limitations (the sameness of concepts) and its writers of the '40's and '50's and '60's. Mr. Aldiss sponsors Ray Bradbury and L. Ron Hubbard very strongly and comments on the irony that while America was its land of origin, England offers a far more appreciative audience. Intelligent occasional reading about yesterday, today and tomorrow.
