THE SAVAGE YEARS

An excellent volume by the author of Watcher on the Rhine is this history of the French and Indian War and its consequences. Carefully documented, highly readable, this book should appeal to literate non-historians as well as to American and Canadian addicts of history. Teachers and students of Canadian and pre-Revolutionary American history should welcome this account of a costly war, stimulated, largely, by Madame Pompadour, with its consequences which include the loss of French possessions to England and, fifteen years later, the Revolutionary War.
