EMOTIONAL STRESS AND YOUR HEALTH

Written by a layman (the author is a prominent journalist and the editor of Spectator) for the layman, this lucid examination of the relationship between physical and mental health serves admirably on two fronts. It diagrams exactly the subtle and complex connection between mental stress and physical illness; and it lists and clearly defines the possible avenues of therapy for psychosomatic disorder, making it sharply clear that both the psychological and physical aspects of a complaint must be born in mind. Brian Inglis writes with enviable clarity, shunning either the extreme of overly technical jargon or banal simplification. His is a text for the intelligent non-professional, who will find here a sound and documented account of progress in the psychotherapeutic treatment of physical illness.
