BRIAN WILDSMITH'S BIRDS

Many birds make a flock, but many swans make a wedge, many nightengales a watch, many snipe a walk. The special terms for each congregation (many plover is a congregation) accompany a series of stunning illustrations which might better have been presented in a portfolio: they are highly decorative and only a few (penguins, turkeys, owls, swans, maybe) will be familiar to the young child. A book of pictures, not a picture book.
