KARL BENZ

In the ""Pioneers of Science"" series, some interesting period illustrations and biographical details concerning the German who built the first practical automobile. Unfortunately, the technological presentation is infuriating--incomplete, full of non sequiturs, with explanatory diagrams that explain little or nothing. Adequate for Benz's life, but keep a good book on the gasoline engine handy. Chronology; brief, irrelevant bibliography; glossary; index.
