Subtitled: Origin, Formation, Adoption, Interpretation, the authors have achieved a tightly organized, readable, introductory text within its compass. The andiest section for students comes under Interpretation. Here, the various pivotal Supreme Court cases are digested and the evolution of Constitutional Law discussed. Under Origin is a chapter on the ""Founding Fathers"" in which their partisan loyalties in regard to their positions on the question of strong central government vs. states' rights are examined with particular attention to those who changed sides in their voting . The ratification debates carried on in New York, Massachusetts and Virginia are excerpted and are revealing on the stellar debaters of the issues raised -- Adams, Hamilton et al. The popular demand for a Bill of Rights and the Constitutional Amendments are well covered. The authors, in their Preface, promised to keep their text uncluttered by footnotes and long citations and they lived up to it to produce a general book that will be use to both high school and college students. Suggestions for Further Reading.
