THE HAZARDS OF HOLINESS

Verse doesn't sell (with some exceptions) as any bookseller or publisher knows. This strange excursion into the field by a religious brother will further confirm this truism. How a publisher could accept this as an addition to his list is hard to explain except that the author (or his community) may have agreed to buy out the edition. That the author has worked at the verse form for many years is evident enough. But most of what comes off is almost unbelievable. This is purported to be the effort of the author to go into the Dark Night of the Soul of a person striving for perfection within the religious life. He gets it out of his system but it just does not register as anything but a personal exercise which will have little meaning for anyone else. Enough said.
