KIRKUS REVIEW

And-then-there-were nine boys from Mather (Cotton) prep school in New England who 25 years later are diminished by sudden death after an extortionate letter has been circulated re ""the matter of Paradise,"" the young Latin teacher and fatality of that earlier time. Hobie Milne, once their valedictorian, now the least achiever of any of them, watches them go one by one (poison, an icepick following a hemorrhoidectomy, a pilot in transit, etc.). By the author of Saturday Games, a spiffy story with real people passing through before they disappear altogether.
