Rich boy, poor boy, patron's son versus orphaned peon, this one splits your sympathies between Eduardo Montes, spending the summer on his uncle's ranch in Argentina versus Manuel who, also 13, is just about grown up the hard way. Eduardo wants to break the colt Gatito (whom Manuel had earlier chosen) and he disappears for a bit, turns up again and is ridden against Manuel's seemingly spindly pangare who turns out to be the winner. . . . A little custom and superstition, a little horsemanship, a little story, and a poco moral for intermediates at this age. . . .
