THE BOY SCOUT ENCYCLOPEDIA

By

Publisher: Rand McNally

Last year Bruce Grant did a grand book, The Cowboy Encyclopedia (p.209) and now he's packed another good set of liberally illustrated definitions into this one. Prepared under the direction of the Boy Scouts of America, text and definitions cover a wide range of scouting lore- here and the world over, though the emphasis is on American scouting- with complete reference to ideals, founders, branches- cub, sea and explorer scouts, and all organizational rules. The definitions themselves are readable too, as Mr. Grant often gives an on-the-scene example for a point he wants to illustrate. Sharp, explicit drawings by Fiore and Jackie Mastri are on every page. For the whole troop and all kid brothers.
