Not likely to be as successful, commercially, as Father Malachy's Miracle as it is almost too British for the American public, and by the method of understatement has less barbed a wit, and -- to the American mind -- correspondingly less of humor. A prep school in Scotland, during the war is the setting for a story in which old traditions and standards struggle for survival during a period when the uncertainties of life itself bring their foibles and instability to life.
