Disappointing -- after Father Malachy's Miracle, for while it has the satirical quality, it lacks the subtlety and tenderness, and emerges a rather obvious and somewhat tedious satire on manipulation and politics in the armament game. There is a timeliness which may give it some impetus. A middle class clerk suddenly feels his oats and gets away with stupidity and dullness on a succession of flukes. He makes some lucky strikes and muffs some big deals, and is finally shot down by the Fascist forces in Spain.
