TIME TO. . .

From seven in the morning till nine at night, a kindergarten boy is shown each hour on the hour. On each left-hand page, the same wall clock shows the time (also given in digital and verbal form), together with some clues about the day's progress--a yellow sweater hangs on a book when the boy is home; the painting done at school appears beside the clock after he has returned in the afternoon. Right-hand pages show predictable activities, including a visit to the library. McMillan's photos are as attractive and well-composed as we have come to expect from this meticulous craftsman, though the children here seem a little more posed and self-conscious than usual. An excellent concept book.
