BORROWED FEATHERS and Other Fables

A crow discovers that borrowed feathers don't make him a peacock; the Sun proves stronger than the North Wind when he causes a man to take off his cloak; a fox flatters a crow into dropping his cheese; the bragging big fish are caught in a net that the smaller ones can slip through; and the daydreaming milkmaid learns not to count her chickens before they are hatched. Most of the seven familiar fables here assembled have already, in various combinations, seen picture-book publication; this entry--short, simple versions with expressive but obvious illustrations--is easily accessible, but in no way expands the experience.
