A DOUBLEDAY ANTHOLOGY

By

Pub Date: Nov. 9th, 1962
Publisher: Doubleday

A mixed reader includes relatively short excerpts (circa 30 pages) from 4 novels: Ferher's Grand Hotel, du Maurier's Rebecca and The Black Rose by Thomas Costain. There's auto-and- biography by Helen Keller, Etsu Sugimoto, John D. Rockefeller, Eve Curie, Irving Stone and Noel Coward; the short stories of Conrad, Crane, Maugham, Kipling, Nelson Algren and J. F. Powers; the humor of George Ade and F.P.A., Wodehouse, etc; history, adventure and reporting by Vincent Sheean, Bruce Catton, Edmund Pearson, Daniel lang and Dwight D. Eisenhower. The editor's choice is obviously both a proven and popular one but short selections, while providing a smattering of familiarity, do not substitute for the originals.
