KIRKUS REVIEW

As long as we have no solution for the Negro problem we have no solution for the minority problem.. And so long as our false concepts of racial superiority continue, the Negro can never be an American.... Americans can never be free men."" -- With this summation, Bucklin Moon throws down the gauntlet to so-called liberals everywhere. His book is a realistic, down-to-earth analysis of the Negro problem,- social and economic, indicating two main approaches to solutio- face the issue of segregation, and use all the tactics at our disposal (legal, legislative, social, religious, labor, politics) to override it. But first make sure we want to solve what is our problem. Study of race relations should be consolidated; the fallacies of legend exploded; the facts regarding jim crowism, low wage, schooling, costs in crime, in efficiency, in transportation explored; the costs in violence studied. Cold facts- without melodrama- in succinct, challenging terms.
