JEB STUART, THE LAST CAVALIER by Burke Davis

JEB STUART, THE LAST CAVALIER

By

Publisher: Einehart

Proud, cunning, ferocious, combining courage and powers of leadership second only to Lee's, Jeb Stuart was the model Confederate soldier. War, as it eventually took his life, gave it to him; despite his sentiments about wife and family, one cannot imagine Stuart except in the van of his cavalry, burling contempt at the enemy, plotting ruses, commanding and inspiring his troops, given over body and soul to the joy of battle. If the biography is without psychological subtlety, the General himself was a man who constantly acted and had no need for inner searchings or philosophy. The research is extensive, the style sometimes hectic.
