If anyone comes in asking for a book for a boy who would like to be a fireman (or who likes to go to fires, or who likes to know the background of the guardians of our life and safety), this is the book. Irving Crump wrote a good book, entitled Our Firemen, which gave much of the same data, through the medium of anecdotes and stories. This book, presented as straight factual reporting, reverses the process, and is full of illustrative incidents, but the basic structure is an actual picture of each phase of modern city fire fighting.
