KIRKUS REVIEW

The British author/lecturer presents, in a briskly informative text backed large and clear photographs, a great deal of hard-to-find information in a slim and handy book. It's an around the world look at famous archaeological digs -- tonehenge, Peru, Easter Island and Persia, among others. A very complete set of directions on how to build models, especially the diagrams of the construction of a Swiss Lake dwelling, are easy and inexpensive to follow. Present techniques in archaeology are briefly explained. Rich in photographs and with a text reminiscent in tone of the National Geographic short pieces, this is a valuable addition to background books in ancient history.
