Renton, clerk, and Mrs. Crichton, housekeeper, for penurious old solicitor Herbert Bayford, after a lifetime of unrewarded service, hope for compensation at his death. They fear his nephew, David, Oxford undergraduate, will inherit, and conspire to bring on a fatal heart attack before the will favorable to them can be altered.
