THE MODERN FOXHOUND by C. R. Acton

THE MODERN FOXHOUND

By

Publisher: Windward House (Derrydale)

This is a grand little book -- as clear and concise as you'd expect of an Englishman whose knowledge and love of the true English Foxhound is sound enough to be commended by their greatest authority, Lord Bathurst. Every phase of the hound department is covered from a brief history of their background to breeding puppies, the life and care of the pack in the kennel, the training for the field and ""on the Flags"" (showing), famous hounds, ending with a chapter on their personality. Story after story of famous hounds' courage, consideration and intelligent love for their huntsmen and friends. If your customers belong to that small (thank God!) group of know-it-alls, you can rather easily shake their position by mentioning the fact that the book was highly praised by Mr. Plunket Stewart, M. F. H. and many Marylanders and Virginians, all of whom said they hoped every member of their hunt would read it as it was entirely applicable to our fields and filled a long felt need in the libraries of both green and skilled followers of the chase.
