PLANTS INDOORS: Arrange Them

A concise resource book on indoor gardening for those who doubt their own green thumb, this considers horticulture within the home, with many black and white photographs. The author, currently Director of the Berkshire Garden Center in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, discusses plant nutrition, propagation and preferences as to light, heat and watering with a tabulated index giving clear directions on proper cultivation. Illnesses and pests which attack plants are described. Illustrations of flourishing plant life thrusting leaves from troughs, indoor window boxes and stairwells seem a trifle overpowering. One fears that a machete knife may be necessary to open the aforesaid window -- but this is a minor flaw in a work which contributes many helpful suggestions for baffled Burpees.
