CAPTAIN HORATIO HORNBLOWER

A trilogy, composed of three adventure stories in which the redoubtable Capt. Hornblower of H.M.N. is the central figure, --Beat to Quarters. Ship of the Line and Flying Colours. The best sea battles of modern fiction can be found in these stories, and there is a goodly amount of historical background for the picture of England's navy in the days before she was Queen of the Seas. There's a dash of romance, for those who want it, but not enough to spoil it as straight adventure.
