KIRKUS REVIEW

The fine illustrations by this well-known illustrator -- 24 of them -- full page -- make this a definite value at the price. Mr. Anderson again sketches the fluidity and grace of a gentle, alert animal. There are pictures of Blaze (a pony) eyeing a bird as he steps tentatively into the woods; Blaze tightening in a jump and them -- a frightened pony, with eyes rolling, being pulled from a mud hole -- and in all the pictures there is the disciplined movement and aimiabledocility of a well trained horse. The accompanying story tells of Billy and a wonderful ride with Blaze -- through the woods, getting lost, a storm, and a wild dash home. A lovely gift for children- and adults -- who love horses.
