KIRKUS REVIEW

Anderson's horse books are collectors' items and the fans will want this story of a teen-aged girl who wants a horse of her own. Gallant Lady, bred of champions, is handled with love and understanding by her young mistress, and Don Clark, a veteran trainer, lends a knowledgeable hand in the training. It is in these details- in the description of racing and competition- and in Anderson's lovely drawings, that the values of the book lie. The simplicity of the writing makes it palatable for younger readers than the heroine's age would seem to indicate.
