KIRKUS REVIEW

Un Chat, un chien, un cheval, et une souris are the lively subject of simple, repetitive French questions and answers. This highly imaginative approach to a foreign language will especially intrigue the younger student of French, but can also serve as an introduction to an inquisitive child, guided by an adult. No English accompanies the French text, but a complete glossary appears at the end, and, in view of the utter simplicity, this is the most advantageous way of increasing and exercising a student's vocabulary. The stylized illustrations in red and gold are of high artistic quality; the artist realized the value of white space, permitting his creatures to breathe--happily, exuberantly. An excellent, satisfying achievement in all respects. Younger appeal than Un Jour a La Foire- Hein.
