KIRKUS REVIEW

This is virtually a basic course in map reading, covering such fundamentals as shape, tour, form, sketching details, profile maps, terminology, recognition of factors, conventional signs and military symbols, language of war. Then against this foundation, the grid system for practical use in identifying locale -- the meaning and application of scale -- mpa -- air photography. This is probably ABC stuff to trained men in the field, but should be valuable to advanced scouts, boys' camps, etc. In the po at the back of the book there are several types of maps, etc.
